Two founders with horticultural expertise, envisioned Hota to empower gardening novices with tailored plant design plans. The app guides users through specifying garden dimensions, soil type, and stylistic preferences, offering a personalised plant bed design to transform their green spaces.

The primary challenge was devising a user-friendly interface to translate complex horticultural principles into an accessible digital format. We aimed to accurately represent varied garden elements on a mobile platform, considering aspects like soil type, sunlight exposure, and directional orientation. The data can then be fed into a unique AI model, trained on expert plant knowledge, to recommend the perfect garden ensemble tailored just for you.
We embarked on a user-centric design journey, creating wireframes that evolved into a step-by-step discovery process within the app. This guided approach, enriched with real-time garden mapping, enabled users to visualise and understand their personalised plant beds intuitively.

Our final design, a high-fidelity prototype, materialised as a comprehensive guide for novice gardeners. It includes features like plant care information and purchasing options, cultivating a user-friendly experience that educates and inspires the budding gardener.This interactive tool allowed users to physically engage with their gardens, showcasing phone features like compass and soil type APIs to generate bespoke garden designs, as well as AI features that offer plant care, schedules and advice incorporating local environment and weather data.
While quantifiable results are pending, Hota has successfully cultivated a vibrant community on social media, building anticipation and awareness pre-launch. This momentum is really promising for its public release.
